A Branch Office or a Representative Office that is permitted to operate the business in Thailand must comply with certain conditions. One of these conditions is the remittance of its investment capital from the Head Office.
The minimum capital to register a Branch or Representative Office in Thailand is THB 3 million. The Head Office must remit it to Thailand for the commencement of business operation as stipulated by law. It can be remitted at lump sum after the registration is done or through installment as follows:
- First 25% or at least THB 750,000 is to be remitted within first 3 months;
- Another 25% is to be remitted within first year;
- Another 25% is to be remitted within second year; and
- The final 25% is to be remitted within third year
The Head Office can put: Payment of investment capital for the Branch Office or Representative Office in the remittance instructions. The Branch or Representative Office must get the Credit Advice from its bank in Thailand when the capital has been remitted in its bank account to be used for accounting purposes as well as an evidence to present to the Department of Business Development later to confirm that it has complied with the condition.
