The Board of Investment of Thailand promotes the waste treatment or disposal activities. the project’s income must come from providing waste treatment or disposal services.
In case the project uses a landfill method, only hazardous waste treatment shall be promoted and project must receive the approval of environmental impact assessment from the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) before applying submitted investment promotion application.
Moreover, the project must comply with the following:-
- The waste treatment must meet the standards set in the area where it is located, such as the Royal Irrigation Department’s standards, Industrial Estate standards, etc.
- Must have the permission to use the are and a permit to operate wastewater treatment business 101
- The main income must come from services. If there is income from selling the extracted products, it will be a by-product
- The machinery must belong to the applicant
Once promoted, the BOI can grant the following incentives:
- Corporate Income Tax exemption for 8 years
- Exemption of import duties on machinery
- Exemption of import duties on raw materials used in R&D
- Exemption of import duties on raw materials used in production for export
- Non-tax incentives as follows:-
- Permit to own land
- Permit to bring foreign skilled workers and experts to work in the promoted project
- Permit to bring foreign nationals for the purpose of studying investment opportunities
- Permit to take out or remit funds abroad in foreign currency
