On this post, we talk about the notorious 90-Day Notification Report for Foreigners in Thailand. In accordance with the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, a foreigner who stays in Thailand for more than 90 days must notify his/her residence to the Immigration office every 90 days. The form to be filed is called TM.47 and it must be done within 15 days before or 7 days after the period of 90 days expires.
Foreigners must keep in mind that this 90-Day Notification Report for Foreigners in Thailand is not the same as visa extension. When you go to the immigration office to do your visa extension, even though the immigration officers see you there, you still have to remember to do your 90 day report.
A foreigner can do the 90-Day Notification in 3 ways:
- The foreigner visits the Immigration office to do the notification report in person or he/she can authorize another person to make the notification in his/her behalf.
- The foreigner sends the notification report by registered mail. It must be sent to the local area of Immigration office through Thailand Post only before the renewal date of 15 days. He/she must keep the proof of sending the registered mail until the confirmation of 90-day notification is returned.
- The foreigner submits the notification report via online service of the Immigration office.
Where to do the 90-Day Notification Report
- For foreigners residing in Bangkok area in general, 90-day notification report can be done in person or send through Thailand Post to the 90 Days Report Section of the Immigration Division 1 in Chaengwattana Road, Laksi, Bangkok.
- For foreigners residing in Bangkok but has obtained the visa and work permit from the BOI One Stop Center for Visa and Work Permits, the 90-day notification can be done in person or send through Thailand Post at BOI One Stop Center, Chamchuri Square Building.
- For foreigners residing in other provinces, the 90-day notification report should be done at the Immigration Office in the province where they stay.
Notes:
- If a foreigner fails to make the 90-day notification report 15 days before or 7 days after the period of 90 day expires, there is a fine of THB 2,000.
- The one who fails to make the 90-day notification report in time and gets arrested, he/she will be fined THB 5,000 with an additional penalty of not more than THB 200 per day.
- If a foreigner leaves Thailand anytime during the 90-day period, the day count will start again upon the arrival date of his/her re-entry into Thailand in every case.
