There are many types of manufacturing activities qualified for Thailand BOI promotion. In this post, we will look at the down-stream steel industry. Manufacture of down-stream steel is in the list of activities eligible for promotion. Thailand Board of Investment gives the promoted companies a corporate income tax exemption and non-tax incentives differently according to Announcement of the Board of Investment No.2/2557 as to Policies and Criteria for Investment Promotion.
The following activities is eligible for Thailand BOI promotion for manufacture of down-stream steel:
- Manufacture of High Tensile Strength Steel which the value of Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) of product must exceed 700 MPa. receives incentive A2. Please see incentives A2 here.
- Manufacture of downstream steel with continuous production process from manufacturing of upstream and intermediate steel within the same project gets incentive A2. Please see incentives A2 here.
- Manufacture of long steel products for industrial use i.e. steel wire rods, wires, shafts and bars will receive incentive A4. Please see incentives A4 here.
- Manufacture of long steel products for construction use, i.e. steel wire rods, wires, shafts and bars falls to incentive B1. Please see incentives B1 here.
- Manufacture of flat rolled steel products for industrial use, i.e. hot or cold rolled stainless steel sheets, steel plates, hot or cold rolled steel sheets and coated steel sheets falls to incentive A4. Please see incentives A4 here.
- Manufacture of flat rolled steel products for construction use, i.e. hot or cold rolled stainless steel sheets, steel plates, hot or cold rolled steel sheets and coated steel sheets will get incentive B1. Please see incentives B1 here.
- Manufacture of Tin Mill Black Plate falls to incentive A3. Please see incentives A3 here.
- Manufacture of Cold Rolled Electrical Steel Sheet (only Non-Oriented (NO) type and Grain-Oriented (GO) type.) falls to incentive A3. Please see incentives A3 here.
